LET GO
The world is complicated,
At least that's what they say,
They, that'd be those who want you sheltered in a cage.
The same people, who'll say that you're a threat to the human race.
Afraid of the ideas that you might hatch inside your brain.
The people who keep on repeating,
That obedience is a virtue.
But you can't have it both ways,
It's either freedom or the curfew.
Questioning her majesty is blasphemy to the gods,
who'll curse you for having the audacity to speak.
I don't want to start a riot.
I want you to go some place quiet,
Sit down in silence,
Maybe close your eyes
And think about what we could do,
Not without rules,
But without rulers and news on a tube.
Listen to the voice inside your head
That makes you choose
Between killing the habit or willing to letting it loose.
Between filling your head with a million experts' opinions,
Or doing the silly thing:
Committing yourself to be you.
Ever since I was a young boy
They've been trying to direct my flow.
Making the essential seem unclear
By planting their ideas
Until I chant along in fear,
But now's the time to let them go.
Ever since she was a young girl,
They've been trying to direct her flow.
Making the essential seem unclear
By planting their ideas
Until she chants along in fear,
But now's the time to let them go.
All their shelved ideas,
All the held-back tears,
Now's the time to let them go.
Your insecurities
That make you not believe
Now's the time to let them go.
People in your life
Who act like parasites,
Now's the time to let them go.
Man playing God
And all the other frauds.
Truth is not a big word,
It just carries a stigma
That it was this enigma,
You couldn't ever figure.
It may be found in scripture,
In stories about Krishna,
Which are stories about Christ,
The only difference are the pictures.
One of many ways to separate us:
Other people's ideas,
From the cradle to the graveyard.
But there are things that they don't teach you as a major,
Like what the future holds,
Of which you are the creator.
Ever since I was a young boy
They've been trying to direct my flow.
Making the essential seem unclear
By planting their ideas
Until I chant along in fear,
But now's the time to let them go.
Ever since she was a young girl,
They've been trying to direct her flow.
Making the essential seem unclear
By planting their ideas
Until she chants along in fear,
But now's the time to let them go.
All their shelved ideas,
All the held-back tears,
Now's the time to let them go.
Your insecurities
That make you not believe
Now's the time to let them go.
People in your life
Who act like parasites,
Now's the time to let them go.
Man playing God
And all the other frauds.
Now's the time to let them go.
That life you thought that you should live,
It's not your own idea.
Just let it go.
That face you thought that you should have,
It's not your own idea.
Just let it go.
That god you should be praying to,
It's not your own idea.
Just let it go.
That enemy that you should hate,
It's not your own idea.
